Across The Sierra (1974)

Commemorative bronze bas relief "Across the Sierra" depicts the completion of the Trans Continental Railroad for the Crocker Citizens Bank in San Mateo, CA.

At 22' wide, the piece depicts Charles Crocker as well as the first locomotive on the line, "the Governor Stanford" named for Leland Stanford as well as the high trestle at Secrettown east of Colfax.

Of note, Charles Crocker played a commanding role in the actual construction and operation of the Central Pacific Railroad. He oversaw most of the construction of the railroad all the way to Promontory, Utah.
