From 1944 to 1947, Spero Anargyros was the chief assistant to Mahonri Young, grandson of Brigham Young, who created the "This Is The Place" monument, Emigration Canyon, Salt Lake City, Utah. In the above picture Mr. Anargyros returns to the "This Is The Place Monument" on October 15, 1999. On that day the Brigham Young University Museum of Art co-hosted a symposium honoring sculpture Mahonri Young and where Mr. Anargyros was a guest speaker. ![]() In 2000 Mr. Anargyros created a bust of Mahonri Young. One cast is at the Brigham Young Museum of Art and a second cast is on display at the Mahonri Young home and studio, Weir Farm National Historic Site, Ridgefield/Wilton, Connecticut. Links |
